#3 Question of The Week

How is flight related to the adaptations of living things in the Biodiversity Classification System?

  1. Flight is related on the adaptations of living things because planes create pollution and if there is to much pollution animals can't survive.KANE

  2. Flight is related to the adaptations of living things because birds fly just like passenger planes, blimps, jets an many other flying devices.Of course there are many birds that don't fly, like turkeys pheasents, penguins and peacocks. Salena

  3. Flight is related to adaptations of Biodiversity by the wings of birds evolving to make use of pressure differences in the air. In addition the birds will have to deal with the air getting polluted in the sky and near their home with a different ways of transportation like in a airplane. Quincy

  4. Depending on the perspective you put it into. From an animal’s perspective, their losing their habitats, its making allot of animals get close to the mark of extinction. When you look at it from an environmentalists perspective, they will say it’s killing our environment, but if we can make them more eco friendly maybe it will be better. So it all depends on the perspective. But considering the world crises were in we need to find a better way to travel or make things more eco friendly.

  5. Salena, you have brought up an interesting point... how birds and flying devices share many similarities. I would like to read more about your thoughts on how birds have influenced flying devices throughout history.

Kane and Michaela, both of you focussed on how the perspective of the animal is impacted by the environmental concerns of flying devices. What might be other examples that you can provide to support your thoughts?

  6. Flight is related to other living and flying things in the shape of the wings and when in the air gliding they need lift to keep themselves up. One of the main differences though, between the wings of a bird and the wings of a plane, are that birds need to flap their wings to get themselves up high, where a planes wings follow Bernoulli's principal for flight. 7. Flight is related to the adaptations of living things because if you build an airport in a park or forest area, the animals can't survive without their natural habitat. They need to find a new place to live and survive or they will be extinct. The same goes for many different types of plants because contaminated soil and smog in the air is destroying them. JESSICA

  8. Flight is related to the adaptations of living things. For example, planes cause pollution which can harm many living things like small animals. Jess

  9. Flights role in adaptations of living things is that flight is taking away our trees. In order to build an airport, you have to pave the area over with cement and make it a flat surface. You must cut down and remove whatever was there naturally growing or living before, for this to happen. Something for all of us to think about. Shea

  10. Airplanes are destroying the habitat of many wild animals due to all of the pollution and plane crashes. There are some advances in flight though, like more efficient planes as the heliplane. It's a cross between a helicopter and an airplane. It uses less fuel which is transforming into greener products. Chris

  11. Flight is related to adaptations of living things because airports located close to forests or a place where there are many animals pollute their habitats. It wouldn't be a good idea because animals need clean oxygen and water to survive. These chemicals in the air could destroy them. Valeria

  12. Great Comments....to all students so far regarding the adaptation of living things and how it relates to flight. Consider different types of animals and/or plants that incorporate elements of flight and include your new vocabulary in your answer. Quincy you made a great connection to birds how can you relate it to the concepts of flight.

Great Job I have really enjoyed this unit and observing all the hard work from both classes.

Can't wait until your Kite Launch

  13. Flight is related to the adaptations of living things in the Biodiversity Classification System because, many birds can fly and that inspired people who wanted to fly to design wings on different flying devices based on how birds or bats fly or glide. The same lifting and gliding features of a bird and bat are applied to new flying devices. Victoria

  14. Flight is related to the adaptations of living things in the biodiversity classification system because, when planes fly over animal habitats, they pollute the habitats, causing the animals living there to adapt. People can fix this by coming up with Eco-friendly plane designs, in order to help save the environment along with the animals living in it.

  15. Flight is related to the adaptions of biodiversity because animals habitats are ruined by pollution and cut down to make airports. Also, people who live by airports have to live with noise pollution and it's also a lot more smoggy. Even though planes help us they are also very bad for the earth in more than one way. Sophie

  16. Flight is related to the adaptations of living things becau some airports are near a animals habitat which is inconvienient for animals because there surrounded by something that is harmful to them and are not inhaling or getting the right things like food, water, and clean oxygen inorder to survive. 17. Flight is related to the adaptations of living things because planes and airports create pollution so if there is to much pollution it makes it harder for animals to adapt. And to build an airport you have to cut down trees and to make plastic you need oil witch comes out of the ground so you need to pump it up, ship it to a, factory to turn it into plastic and sell it to the airport and the airport has to come and pick it up and bring it it the airport and all of those five things create pollution.

  18. Flight is related to the adaptations of living things in the biodiversity classification system because, when some people first imagined flying, the only things that they knew could fly were birds and bats. These people then studied the animals that could fly in order to find a way to fly themselves. Today, many aircrafts have been designed with the same properties as animals that can fly. Holly
