#5 Question of the Week

What are ways in which the four forces of flight alter flying devices?

  1. The 4 forces of flight (lift, drag, thrust and gravity) can greatly alter the flight path of the plane. Thus the plane will drop if gravity is stronger or will rise if thrust is stronger and will move forward due to thrust and will drag if drag is stronger. The 4 forces are very important so every pilot needs to be aware of these things. Stephen

  2. The four forces of flight are lift, draf, thrust and weight. Each plays a major part in letting a plane lift off the ground, fly across the sky and land safely. But, in kites it is different. Kites do not have an engine and therefore do not have thrust. Unless of course you consider the person running with the kite as the one creating thrust. Kaiden

  3. The four forces of flight can alter flying devices in flight if there isn't enough balance between the corresponding areas. For example lift has to be slightly more than weight for the plane to rise and vice versa, weight must be slightly greater than lift for the plane to decline. Keiko
